American Girl Doll Party Dress Pattern

So, I've become a little addicted to sewing new outfits for my daughter's American Girl Doll.  I have a ton of fabric in my basement.  Yes - it's a little known fact that I am a fabric horder.

You may remember my first attempt at sewing for her doll.  I made a bikini from dollar store underwear.  It was a huge hit.  In fact she is wearing her bikini today because we're heading out to a pool party.

This time I made her a party dress.  I bought the PDF pattern on Etsy as an instant download.  Shopping for patterns may be my new addiction as I love the fact that you literally have the pattern in hand immediately.  This isn't a free pattern but at 3 patterns for $12 it is practically free.

This pattern was really easy to follow. I wasn't sure how fiddly it would be since doll clothes are so small so I didn't use my favourite fabric. I was actually surprised how easy it was and how great the final dress turned out. I have since made a few more using this pattern as birthday gifts for friends.

One of the things I love the most about sewing these American Girl Doll clothes is that they take very little fabric, they're quick to whip up and I get that instant gratification of having a finished product.  I think it also helps that my daughter is just so happy to have an expanded doll wardrobe and she LOVES every outfit.

I hope I've inspired you to try your hand at making a new outfit.  Happy sewing!

Love living the nomadic life with my NOMAD ChargeKey and ChargeCard

About a month ago I got a Nomad ChargeCard. Don't know what it is yet? No, it isn't another credit card (although it looks like one), it is the world's smallest and most portable USB cable and I love it!

I have an iPhone and like anyone else with a smartphone you quickly come to realise that it is more than a phone, it is a lifeline. I keep my family calendar, contacts, email, etc. on my phone. I want it to be ready whenever I need it. The problem I had was keeping my charger with me all the time. As a woman who switches purses, etc. it was always in the wrong place.

The Nomad ChargeCard is a USB cable that fits in my wallet just like any other credit card. It is light, thin, and always with me.

My husband has a Blackberry so I got him one too. Instead of the ChargeCard I got him a ChargeKey instead. Like most men he doesn't want his wallet any bulkier than it has to be as he keeps it in his pocket but he always has his keys and the ChargeKey is shaped just like a house-key and fits on his keyring. Except for the fact that he uses it regularly, he'd never know it was there because it is light and fits in just like any other key.

The Nomad ChargeCard and ChargeKey both allow for charging from any USB port (love that it hooks up to USB port in the car) and full data transfer when connected to a computer.

NOMAD is available in the USA and now in CANADA too! They've just launched on Amazon.ca.

Just make sure you choose the right one for your device.
